Using a composition card (or comp card) is a low-tech, easy way to help you find compositions in landscape and nature photography by helping to block out distractions in a scene and hone your creative vision.

The closer you hold the comp card to your face, the wider the angle of view you’ll have (mimicking a wide-angle lens). The farther you hold it away from your face, the narrower the field of view you’ll have (mimicking a telephoto lens).

The templates below are designed for a camera with a 3:2 aspect ratio sensor.  Simply enter your email to download the PDF matching your paper format, then print it out and use it to cut out a piece of cardboard or similar firm board.  Enjoy!
